Over the past year and a half there has been more emphasis than ever on helping those in need in difficult times. With International Charity Day coming up on 5 September, we wanted to communicate to our panel of members how Opinion Outpost and our owner Dynata contributes to charitable causes through our work.
Charitable giving is a key part of any large corporation’s social responsibility, and at Opinion Outpost we take this responsibility very seriously and take pride in our work in this regard. Clearly there are thousands of more than worthy causes which any company can choose to contribute to, but at Opinion Outpost and Dynata we have focused our efforts on the American Red Cross.
In this post, we’ll breakdown how your opinions help us to make a difference in the wider world through the efforts of the American Red Cross.
How we help the American Red Cross
Opinion Outpost’s owner, Dynata, is a global online market research firm with over 20 years of experience in providing the biggest and brightest companies and corporations around the world with real-world insights.
From the perspective of our panel members and our community, it is your opinions that influence change within these companies, but you can also influence positive change in a charitable sense. Our partnership with the American Red Cross sits at the heart of our charitable responsibilities and we are proud of the contribution that you and our community have helped us to make.
Over the past two years, Dynata has donated $10,000 a month, every single month, to the American Red Cross. The total donation is now over $250,000 and we couldn’t have done this without you, our panel members.
Our monthly donation is split to cover different areas of the American Red Cross’s work. We have designated 90% of our contribution towards international services and 10% to disaster relief, all of which makes a huge impact on a range of different issues worldwide.
How this donation helped make an impact
Over the past 18 months, the coronavirus pandemic has been at the forefront of efforts in terms of international aid, and this has been the focus of much of the American Red Cross’s work. But there have been many more humanitarian issues which have required their assistance and tireless work from other charities around the world.
In just the last few months there have been a number of natural and extreme global weather disasters which have required the support of the Red Cross. Volcanic eruptions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and St. Vincent and the Grenadines have resulted in tens of thousands of people being displaced plus numerous injuries and deaths. Red Cross teams have been mobilised in both regions to assist with evacuation, food deliveries, water, first aid and ambulance services, psychosocial support, family reunification and hygiene and sanitation amongst many other relief services. Over the past year we have also seen Cyclone Eloise in Mozambique and floods and typhoons in the Philippines which have affected hundreds of thousands of people and have required further essential support.
The American Red Cross has of course been ever present in the fight against Coronavirus as well. Over the past year, the Red Cross and Red Crescent network has collectively reached six times as many people through their response to COVID-19 as they did for any other reason in 2017. They have reached 650 million people through risk-communication and community engagement activities, support over 100 million people with water, sanitation and hygiene activities, and provided food and other essential items to 80 million people. The network has also been involved with at least one vaccination-related activity across 152 national societies.
How we can continue to help
By signing up to our community and completing our online surveys with Opinion Outpost you will help ensure that we can continue to contribute every month to the efforts of the American Red Cross.
The donation we provide does not cost you anything as a member of our community. It is separate from the rewards that you can receive from completing our surveys and it does not affect your points balance as a panel member. By sharing your opinion with us, you’ll be helping people affected by countless crises around the world.
Of course, if you are in a position to do so, we would encourage you to give generously to whichever domestic network of the Red Cross is relevant to you. You can find out more here at the International Committee of the Red Cross.
